Inter Miami snap up US international Gressel
The versatile defender is a former MLS Cup winner with Atlanta and Columbus has been capped six times by the USMNT.
The MLS free agency window has opened and provides clubs with an opportunity to tweak their squads as the 2024 season looms on the horizon.
Inter Miami hit the headlines over the festive period with the confirmation of the arrival of Luis Suárez from Gremio but given the club will be competing on numerous fronts next season, head coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino is anxious to have as much depth as possible in his squad.
Today the Florida based outfit confirmed the signing of Julian Gressel as a free agent with the 30-year-old moving from 2023 MLS champions Columbus Crew.
The midfielder, who can also play as a fullback, joins the the Herons after winning his second MLS Cup, having won his first managed by head coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino in 2018 with Atlanta United.
“Julian is an established player with a winning track record in the league who has proven himself at every stage during his MLS career,” said Inter Miami’s Sporting Director Chris Henderson. “We are pleased to add him to our squad as his versatility and quality delivery will bolster Inter Miami as we look to build on the successes of last season in 2024.”

On the international stage, Gressel has featured for the USMNT on six occasions, including four appearances at the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup.
