According to sources close to Inter Miami, the MLS side’s main objective for now is the signing of Luis Suárez. The Uruguayan has a contract with Gremio until December 2024 and the club has no intention of releasing the player before that date.

Journalist Gastón Edul has confirmed that there are negotiations between the player and both clubs, all with a view to an agreement that favours all parties. The main setback at the moment would be at Grêmio. The Porto Alegre club are not contemplating the departure of the Uruguayan before the end of the Copa do Brasil, one of the team’s main short-term objectives.

Suárez’s intention is, however, to join Messi and Busquets in the MLS and Inter Miami are confident that this will happen despite the economic difficulties that it would entail.

Suárez the star at Grêmio

Suárez is the star player at Grêmio. Despite his age and previous knee problems, his eye for goal and competitive spirit remain intact. So much so, that the Porto Alegre club believes he is essential in the quest for the aforementioned cup title, which is a major objective due to the potential cash injection for the club (around US$20 million).
