Inter Milan no longer in race to sign Arsenal and USMNT forward Folarin Balogun
Balogun had an impressive loan spell with Stade de Reims in France last season but has returned to his parent club Arsenal.
Inter Milan are no longer considering signing Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun, as per reports in Italy. Inter have now informed Arsenal and the player’s entourage of their decision.
Balogun was at the top of the Milan club’s striker shortlist, however, an increase in Arsenal’s asking price and the Gunners’ interest in midfielder Nicolo Barella have made the Serie A side pull out of any potential deal.
Inter are now set to turn their attention to fellow forwards Mehdi Taremi and Marko Arnautovic as they look to add to their attack before the end of the summer transfer window following the departure of Edin Dzeko and Romelu Lukaku.
Balogun in 2022-23
Balogun, 22, had an impressive loan spell with Stade de Reims in France last season but has returned to his parent club Arsenal. Playing under Reims’ highly-rated head coach Will Still in Ligue 1 last season, he scored 21 goals in 37 league games.
Balogun chooses USMN
Earlier this year, Balogun decided to switch international allegiances and represent the USMNT. He was previously eligible to play for England, but choose to represent the US.
The talented young forward’s decision is seen as a major boost for the USMNT as they strengthen their squad ahead of hosting the 2026 World Cup.
With no competitive senior appearance for England, Balogun remained eligible to switch his allegiance to the US.
