Ireland score stunning first ever Women’s World Cup goal

Captain Katie McCabe scored directly from a corner when her inswinger flew over Canada goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan.

The Republic of Ireland scored their first ever goal at a Women’s World Cup against Canada on Wednesday.

Irish captain Katie McCabe netted directly from a corner when her inswinger from the right flew over Canada goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan to send the Irish crowd wild Down Under.

Arsenal player McCabe broke the deadlock with the Olimpico after just four minutes in Perth.
