Is Brazil eliminated from the Copa América if they lose against Paraguay?

Group D of Copa America is getting red hot and is not looking good for either Brazil or Paraguay in the second game of the competition.

The Canarinha is not in its best form at the moment. The guys in yellow are having a tough time finding their best football. Vinicius and Rodrygo are not having the same impact on the team as they would like to. Now they face Paraguay, which is also not having the best form under them. They just recently had a change of managers, and they are having a very difficult time having a generational change.

The math for Group D of the Copa America

As they face each other in Group D’s second game, both the Guaranis and the Brazilians must secure a victory to maintain their chances of remaining in the competition. The truth is that if Paraguay loses this game, they will be eliminated from the competition, because any result of Colombia vs Costa Rica will see them out of the competition.

If Colombia wins, they will have six points, followed by Paraguay with zero and Brazil with four. If Costa Rica wins, they will have four points, and Brazil will also have four points, making it impossible for Paraguay to qualify. But if Brazil loses against Paraguay, it all becomes very interesting. It will all boil down to the group’s last game.

The Brazilians will come in with one point, and beating Colombia would leave them with four. If Paraguay wins against Costa Rica, they will get three points, while Costa Rica will get either three or one point depending on their previous game with Colombia, leaving a big if for the Brazilians. While Brazil is not out of the competition, if they lose their second match, they will be in a very difficult spot.
