There is good news for USMNT and American soccer fans as Christian Pulisic is expected to make his return from injury as AC Milan face Juventus in the semifinals of the Supercoppa Italiana (Italian Super Cup) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Friday (January 3).

The former Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea attacker has sat out Milan’s last four games after suffering a calf tear in the first half of the defeat to league leaders Atalanta on December 6. There had been hope Pulisic would feature in the Rossoneri’s last fixture of 2024 against Roma on December 29, only for the American to suffer an ankle problem after recovering from his calf injury.

However, the 26-year-old is now set to return to the team for the opening game of 2025, which will see new head coach Sérgio Conceição take charge of the team for the first time following Paulo Fonseca’s sacking.

Four USMNT stars could play in Juventus - AC Milan

USMNT teammate Yunus Musah should also be fit after recent fitness issues, while compatriots Weston McKennie and Tim Weah are in contention to play for Juve, so there could be four Americans on the field at the same time.

However, Conceição stated prematch that neither Pulisic nor Musah would play the full 90 minutes having only just regained fitness.

Adding additional intrigue to the semifinal is that Conceição will be coming up against his son, Francisco, who is on loan at Juventus from Porto, where he previously played under his father.
