Ciudad de México Update:

In the early hours of Tuesday, all eyes turned to Pumas as a whirlwind of speculation and rumors swirled around the team. Amid the noise, one name stood out - Aarón Ramsey. The Welsh international had reportedly arrived in Mexico City to undergo medical tests and, barring any surprises, sign a two-tournament deal with Los Auriazules. As expected, excitement among Pumas fans surged. But the real headline came later in the day.

Funes Mori’s Pumas exit confirmed

Without any prior notice or teaser, Pumas made a surprise announcement on their social media channels: Rogelio Funes Mori is leaving the club. The message was brief but clear: “Thank you, Rogelio. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.” And just like that, the chapter closed on a stint that never quite lived up to expectations.

With Ramsey poised to become the first official signing for the Apertura 2025 (though the club has yet to confirm it), the hope is that Pumas will continue to make smart moves in the transfer market. According to multiple sources, Colombian fullback Álvaro Angulo is close to joining the team in a deal that would send Ignacio Pussetto the other way, along with a cash component. The club is also actively pursuing a striker and a winger, though details on those targets remain scarce. What is known is that the scouting department has been hard at work.

Fans are eager to learn the identities of the new additions, but the front office is playing its cards close to the chest. Insiders say the profiles being considered are sensitive enough that the club is being extra cautious about leaks. With just a couple of weeks left before the Apertura kicks off, more updates are expected soon as Pumas looks to fill the gaps left by recent departures.

An underwhelming Pumas spell for Funes Mori

Funes Mori joined Pumas in January 2024 with high expectations, thanks to his successful run with Monterrey. But his time in the capital was, at best, disappointing. It’s worth noting that his contract was set to expire in December, meaning the club will have to pay a buyout to terminate it six months early.
