Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden spent a large part of his career with the Houston Rockets and his ties to the Texan city are strong.

So much so that he owns shares in the Houston Dynamo, the local MLS franchise, which occupies one of the Play-in positions, a playoff that gives access to the Playoffs.

Now, the NBA star is looking for his team to make a leap in the standings by following David Beckham’s path, by attracting top-level stars, as the Englishman has done with Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba at Inter Miami.

Speaking to USA Today Sports, Harden revealed that they are looking for a star like Messi. “We will try to find someone to come to Houston. We all know how amazing Messi is. We need someone to come to Houston and we will find him,” he explained.

Messi to MLS key for growth

Harden celebrated Messi’s arrival and the growth it would mean for MLS. “MLS is growing with Messi. It’s a fantastic thing because, in the United States, we have never had recognition for soccer players, we will see young players develop and it will be good for the culture of American soccer,” he said.
