Former Mexico international Jared Borgetti has a favorite to lead Gerardo Martino’s attack at the Qatar World Cup - he is sure that América centre-forward Henry Martin should be a starter at the tournament.

In Henry Martín we have a player who is in a good moment and surely Tata Martino has him included in his list, I’m certain of that. The way things are going, he should be in line to start and that’s fine by me,” said the former Tri and Santos Laguna forward.

“For this World Cup, seeing how Henry is doing and also after watching how Santi Giménez has been playing with his team, I’m feeling confident. I’m not holding out hope that Raúl Jiménez will make it, as I don’t know if he will or not. The only thing I know is that those two can surely help the team a lot. Tata seems to be calm about the team’s attack,“ he added.

Jared, who starred in two World Cups - Korea/Japan 2002 and Germany 2006, expressed concern that several other players who will travelling to Qatar with the national team haven’t been showing their best form.

“I think that for me, the national team doesn’t have many players who are in a good moment. That’s why I’m very happy that Chucky Lozano is playing again and is scoring goals - at least you know that if he gets the ball, something’s going to happen,” he continued. “I feel that for Mexico to be able to convince us a little more we need a couple of players who are at the top of their game. It’s good to know that we have someone who can make a difference. For these types of events you always have to bring players who are physically well, who are emotionally well - you can see that Tata Martino knows exactly what he needs”.
