Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández gifts LA Galaxy jersey to Iker Casillas
Javier Hernández gave an LA Galaxy jersey to the Real Madrid legend, Iker Casillas, with whom he shared a dressing room in Spain.
As the MLS debut with the LA Galaxy draws closer, this Thursday Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández and the Los Angeles franchise received a visit from a true football icon: ex-Real Madrid goalkeeper, Iker Casillas. The legendary Spanish stopper, with whom the Mexican striker played with at Real Madrid during the 2014-15 season, received a jersey from the Mexican.
Chicharito confirms injury to Casillas
Through his Instagram account, Chicharito shared images with the world champion, writing: “Happy to see you again, legend! Thank you for visiting us”. The Galaxy shirt that he recieved as a gift is the new away jersey, with his surname and the number 1 printed onto it.
A video was posted on the LA Galaxy Twitter account of the match between the top scorer of the Mexican National Team and the ex-Spain captain. After some comments between the two in which Casillas made a joke about his clothing, he asked the striker if he is injured, which the number 14 confirmed.
A Real Madrid - Barcelona greeting
In addition to the reunion between Casillas and Chicharito, the retired player greeted his compatriot Riqui Puig, who joined the Galaxy in mid-2022 and has become an important player in Greg Vanney’s side. The midfielder who emerged from La Masía comments in a video in which he greets Casillas: “It’s been a good day today”.
The circle of connections is growing
With Gerard Piqué's Kings League, Javier Hernández was already part of a match for Ibai Llanos’ team, but Iker Casillas is also president of one of the squads that form part of this new idea of football entertainment. This means that Piqué, Chicharito, Casillas and Puig — Gerard’s friend — could be considered very close.
