Jesús Gallardo was one of the few players from the Mexico national team to start in all three games of the group stage and he was never substituted. The Monterrey defender was a key player during Gerardo Martino’s World Cup cycle for El Tri and he dreams to play in Europe’s top tier in the near future.

The 28-year-old is happy at Monterrey and he compares it with the best clubs in Europe because of their infrastructure. Jesús Gallardo arrived to Rayados during the summer of 2018 following a successful stint at Pumas UNAM, but his current contract expires at the end of the Clausura 2023 on June 30.

Gallardo wants to fulfill his dream

The player will become a free agent in the summer and he dreams of playing in a European club if he doesn’t reach a contract extension with Monterrey in the upcoming months. “I am happy to be with Rayados because it’s almost like a European team. They have a great infrastructure here at Monterrey such as the stadium and fans. Everything is incredible here,” said the 28-year-old.

“Obviously I would like to play in Europe at some point in my life, but if it doesn’t happen it’s ok because I’m happy here [Monterrey]. I have to enjoy the moment, be patient and if the opportunity comes I will welcome it because I am in one of the biggest clubs in Mexico,” he concluded.
