Joana Sanz says goodbye to Dani Alves

Joana Sanz has definitively put an end to her time with former Barcelona player Dani Alves. She posted a photo of a handwritten text in which she says that she still loves the soccer player but his actions have broken her “into a thousand pieces”.

Alves is accused of rape, a case which saw him placed in prison facing the charges back in January and as time has passed the distance between the soccer player and the model has only increased. Sanz has on several occasions dropped hints pointing to a breakup, but it was not until this Wednesday, three days after visiting him in jail, that she made their separation official.

“Since I was little I have written my feelings to express myself, I suppose because I am an only child. Whatever it is, it does me good. I would love for the lines written here to be about love and happiness, but it is not the case. These have been horrible months, not the hardest of my life, because I have faced many storms, but very dark and painful. The feeling of abandonment and loneliness knocks on my door again. Thousands of unanswered ‘whys’”, she begins in her notebook before referring directly to Alves.

“I chose as a life partner a person who in my eyes was perfect. He was always there when I needed him the most, he always supported me in everything, he always encouraged me to grow, always affectionate, attentive... It’s so hard for me to accept that that person could break me into a thousand pieces. I think it will take me years of my life to get his way of looking at me out of my memory, that way of as if I were the most incredible thing in the world, and damn, yes, I am incredible,” she continued.

Sanz continues in the note to reflect on her worth as a woman and the importance of valuing oneself, although she insists that she will still be by Alves’s side, though in a different way. “I am incredible because I am hardworking, independent, intelligent, thoughtful, affectionate, funny, faithful and human. So human that despite the damage he has caused me, I am still here by his side. I continue and will continue to be, but in a different way”.

Finally, the Spanish model brings this stage of her live to an end, without forgetting the love she still feels for the Brazilian: “I love him and I will always love him, whoever says that love is forgotten is deceiving themself or did not really love .
