Ecuadorian winger Joao Rojas seems set to quit the Liga MX after Monterrey placed him on the transfer list. Rather than search for another team in Mexico, the player would rather continue his career elsewhere.

Offers from other Liga MX clubs

Both Atlas and Mazatlán expressed an interest in the 26-year-old but their approaches were rejected. According to a number of reports, it was the South American player himself who communicated his disagreement with the deals being offered. Rojas hopes to achieve a satisfactory agreement with Rayados - a way of definitively breaking away from the club that will suit both parties.

Internal sources believe that Rayados are hoping to terminate the two remaining years of Rojas’ contract. Doing that would represent a financial loss for the player, but at least he would get his wishes and be free to plan his own future.

Another option that has been contemplated in Monterrey was the possibility of an exchange for another player with one of the several clubs interested in taking Rojas. However, the player is adamant that he wants to continue outside of Mexico. It is hoped that both player and club can reach a definitive solution in the next few days.

This week will be key for Joao and Rayados to reach a settlement. One thing is clear - the Ecuadorian will not be in the Rayados roster for the Clausura 2024 and most likely, in another league and another country.
