Jorge Ruvalcaba poised to join Standard Liège
The 22-year-old Mexican forward is set to leave the Pumas to fulfill his dream of playing in Europe.
The Leagues Cup has served several players as an opportunity to showcase themselves at an international level and one such case is Jorge Ruvalcaba. The young forward’s days with Pumas appear to be numbered as it is looks like he will soon be packing his bags and moving to Europe to play for Standard Liège.
In UNAM’s most recent game, against DC United, Ruvalcaba set up Gabriel Fernández for the team’s third goal in the 3-0 win.
According to newspaper AM, Pumas already have received an offer - one which they view favorably. The player is believed to be delighted with the opportunity to play in one of Europe’s major leagues and the club would not stand in his way to fulfill his dream. It is reported that Standard’s offer is for a straight transfer for a percentage of his clause.
Ruvalcaba made his debut for UNAM on 10 January 2022 as a substitute in the 5-0 win against Toluca. To date, he has a total of five goals and three assists in 40 games with Pumas, which whom he was a runner-up in the 2022 Concachampions.
