The negotiations between Club América and Ajax are coming to an end for Jorge Sánchez and the Mexican international is expected to travel to the Netherlands this week to sign his five-year deal.

According to De Telegraaf, both sides are expected to reach a deal as soon as this week and Sánchez will then undergo a medical examination and sign his new contract.

Once the transfer is completed, Sánchez will reunite with his compatriot Edson Álvarez at Ajax and begin the 2022/23 season. This will be the first time that the 24-year-old has played for a team from Europe’s top tier and he will have to compete with Devyne Rensch for the starting job at right-back.

Sánchez could lack minutes

Sánchez will have to adapt quickly to the Eredivisie and fight for minutes with the FIFA World Cup right around the corner. He has been a regular starter for the Mexico national team during Gerardo Martino’s tenure but the lack of minutes could leave him out of the starting XI during the group stage.
