Juarez win again and are surprise Liga MX leaders
Bravos are the surprise Liga MX leaders after a Friday night win over Mazatlan with Diego Valoyes, Aitor and Avilés Hurtado on the scoresheet
Mazatlán are struggling again and have only managed one win in the current Apertura 2023 season and on Friday night saw their run carry on as the slipped up to FC Juárez (3-1) at the Estadio Olímpico Benito Juárez, which has become a difficult ground for visiting teams in recent times.
Goals from Diego Valoyes (13′), Aitor García (34′) and Avilés Hurtado (60′) gave the Bravos the three points they needed as the side from the border now lead the way in the Liga MX table despite a late first half strike from Josué Colmán for the Cañoneros.
Bravos looking incisive
FC Juárez are looking good and with a third of the regular season now complete, the Bravos are shaping up to be one of the teams that will look to qualify for the Liguilla (Playoffs) as Mazatlán languish in 13th place with only 6 points and just one win in the Apertura.
Matchday 8 will see Mazatlán host Cruz Azul at the Kraken on 15 September, while Necaxa will host FC Juárez at the Victoria stadium on 16 September.
