Jude Bellingham is expected to be named in Real Madrid’s starting eleven for Saturday’s LaLiga clash with high-flying Girona. Carlo Ancelotti decided to rest the England international against Las Palmas in midweek after a super start to life in the Spanish capital. Bellingham did not play a single minute against García Pimienta’s newly-promoted side in the 2-0 home victory.

Bellingham off to a flyer

Bellingham is Madrid’s top scorer; six of the club’s 14 goals this season are his (42.9%). And he scores almost a goal per game, with six in seven games from the No 10 role that he has been deployed in. He only failed to find the back of the net against Real Sociedad and Atlético Madrid, but he managed to net a brace against lowly Almería. His goals have given Madrid seven points in LaLiga and the last-minute victory over Union Berlin in the Champions League.

Madrid creating chances

Ancelotti’s team have had the most shots on goal in Europe’s top five leagues, but Los Blancos have struggled to convert the chances. Bellingham, however, has seen 35% of his attempts result in a goal.

Wednesday’s game was the first break the former Borussia Dortmund player has had this season. Up until then, Ancelotti had only been without him in the final stretch of the game against Almería, with the game already settled after he and Vinícius had pulled goals back following Sergio Arribas’ early strike. Only Rodrygo, Antonio Rüdiger and David Alaba have played more than Bellingham so far this season.
