Julián Araujo agrees personal terms with FC Barcelona
The Spanish giants are getting closer to signing the Los Angeles Galaxy product on a loan-to-buy deal until the end of the season.
The deal between the Los Angeles Galaxy and FC Barcelona for Julian Araujo is imminent, according to multiple sources. The Spanish giants are getting closer to signing the Mexican-American full-back now that Héctor Bellerín has left for Sporting CP.
The Major League Soccer side rejected an initial bid close to $3.25 million for Araujo, so Barcelona made a second one of $6.5 million to complete the move. The Mexican international has agreed to personal terms and he is waiting for final approval from both sides to make the official announcement.
Araujo’s dream coming true
“I definitely want to go to Europe. It is my dream, my goal, I want to reach my highest potential and I feel like going to Europe is going to help me do that. I am someone that wants to learn every day, that takes advice from everybody. Like I said, to reach my highest potential I need to go play in the best, in the top leagues,” said Araujo during the 2023 MLS Media Day earlier this month.
Araujo is expected to arrive on a one-year loan deal to Barcelona B, who is currently managed by Rafael Márquez, and will go to the first team whenever he is needed. Márquez talked about the arrival of the LA Galaxy product and said the following:
“I think the spot is open for any player that fits our style and if he is Mexican the club will analyze everything because there are a lot of filters for a player to finally arrive. Having said that, the door will never be closed to anyone and I would be delighted if the player is Mexican,” said Márquez at Tuesday’s press conference.
