Pumas are well aware that the tournament is fading away from them and they now will have to fight to have any chance of making the playoffs. Mathematically, it is still possible because no team has been eliminated from the race yet, and for that reason, they will be doing whatever they can to beat their remaining rivals as the regular phase of the Clausura 2023 reaches its conclusion.

Goalkeeper Julio González spoke about their chances and how the team will be approaching the last four games in an interview with TUDN. “I know it sounds a bit corny to say that the last games are like four finals for us, but that’s the reality. We have to go out to kill or be killed, we know that the tournament is slipping away from us and we have to beat San Luis and after that, go game by game. We have to win then think about Toluca, and the games after that,” he explained.

Pumas have undergone a number of changes and setbacks during the tournament - the club was rocked by the sudden dismissal of Dani Alves due to a sexual harassment case in Spain. More recently, Rafael Puente del Río and replaced by Argentine coach Antonio Mohamed, who has been hired to try to salvage something from the season.

“We have to be hopeful that we can do it - that’s what he ha told us. We know the situation is complicated, but with Mohamed the numbers speak for themselves. I’m sure we’ll get better results under him. We have to most the most of his expertise and experience then I’m sure the results will come - that’s what the fans want and what they deserve,” he assured.

Club Universidad Nacional have four games left to play in the Clausura 2023 - two at home: against Atlético de San Luis and Toluca, while they must visit Monterrey and Club América. The Auriazules are in 17th position in the general table with 11 points, only two below the last playoff place.
