Karim Benzema not named in France squad with Camavinga and Mendy
Didier Deschamps announced his last squad before the World Cup for the matches against Austria and Denmark.
Didier Deschamps has announced his France squad for the Nations League matches against Austria (Thursday 22 September) and Denmark (Sunday 25). The most notable additions to the squad are AS Monaco centre-back Benoît Badiashile, AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana and Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani.
In addition to the three new additions, several players have been recalled by Deschamps. Eduardo Camavinga, who has not been called up since 2020, will join the Les Bleus camp. Ousmane Dembélé has more than earned a call-up after his great start to the season with Barcelona. Olivier Giroud has been called up after Karim Benzema picked up a recent injury. Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy, absent from Deschamps’ recent lists, has been included in what is the last squad before the World Cup in Qatar.
