The return to Liga MX of names such as Andrés Guardado, Tecatito Corona and Érick Gutiérrez last season can only add to the competition. Players who dazzled in Europe have found a second chance in the domestic game, however, Kevin Álvarez believes that Club América do not need such signings to keep the club at the top.

“The truth is that I think the squad has a lot of quality, it’s large and I think it has shown that last season. They [signings from Europe] are welcome in the league and I think they will add to it, but América has enough to be able to compete for the title again,” he said in a press conference.

Time left at América

The 25-year-old also spoke about his desire to play in Europe. “I have three more years [on my contract], and I’m trying to make my mark here first. I think that if I do things right, the opportunity may come. The truth is that I don’t have a special place in mind, I would simply go to try, wherever it is, to be able to fulfil my dream of being there.”
