Kylian Mbappé to announce decision on future next month
Those closest to Mbappé have told L’Équipe that he is closer to joining Real Madrid than staying and signing a new deal with PSG.
According to French outlet Le Parisien, Kylian Mbappé could reveal where he will play next season in the second half of June. The forward will meet up with the France national team next month but is not expected to reveal where he will be playing next season before then.
Mbappé's contract at PSG expires in less than two months and he has yet to give any hints about where his future lies. Those closest to the player have told French outlet L’Équipe that he is currently closer to joining Real Madrid than staying and signing a new deal with PSG.
In France, they continue to report that PSG and the player’s entourage have moved closer to reaching an agreement on a contract extension in recent weeks.
Le Parisien report that he has no intention of making his decision known at the UNFP gala, the award ceremony on 15 May that will celebrate the best players in Ligue 1 for the 2021/22 campaign.
Mbappé waiting for season to end
PSG play their final game of the season against Metz at the Parc des Princes on 21 May and Mbappé will not confirm his decision between now and then. He prefers to wait until June to announce that decision.
Mbappé's announcement, via social media or a press conference, could come in the second two weeks of June after France’s training camp in preparation for the 2022 Nations League.
PSG are still doing everything they can to convince him to extend his stay at the Ligue 1 club, offering him 100% of the image rights and an astronomical salary to make him the face of the club. Mbappé is remaining quiet on his future but it could all be revealed next month.
