MLS
LA Galaxy in free fall
The LA side lost in Seattle and now see any playoff dreams hang by a slender thread as questions are raised about the direction of the club.
Two defeats and two draws in the past five games for the LA Galaxy sees the side from Carson set to end their season early with any playoff aspirations very much a long shot.
Los Angeles Galaxy, an always ambitious club that currently features talents such as Riqui Puig, Douglas Costa and Chicharito Hernández lie rooted in penultimate place in the Western Conference with only 3 regular league games remaining.
Room to improve
The club have endured a wretched season and early season turmoil and fan boycotts led to president Chris Klein resign at the end of May and hopes that a new chief would lead to a new dawn.
The record five-time MLS Cup winners have failed to make the MLS playoffs in four of the past six seasons and after 14 games this season, the Galaxy had the worst record in MLS with just nine points.
The Galaxy face three games against Conference rivals in Minnesota, Salt Lake and finish up on Deadline Day with an away trip to Dallas with the Texans also involved in the battle for a playoff or at least wild card spot.
Should the playoff dream fail, a dramatic reboot will be needed as the Galaxy slip down the MLS pecking order as fans of the Carson side look with envy at what is happening at LAFC.
