LA Galaxy goal record without Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández: how long will he be out for? What injury has he got?

The current MLS season is proving infertile ground for LA Galaxy who, without Chicharito, have only scored 2 goals in 4 games.

The match days tick on in MLS and LA Galaxy can’t find their goal scoring boots in the changing room. Against the Portland Timbers they scraped a point, but the most worrying aspect of the game was the startling lack of chances the team created, ending up with a scoreline of 0-0.

Out of the four games that the Galaxy have played so far, they have only scored in 2 of them and have conceded 4, resulting in a -2 goal difference; Greg Vanney’s side consequently have just 2 points from a possible 12. Had it not been for the 3 that FC Dallas bagged against them, their scores would read like binary code for uneventful matches.

Who has scored for LA Galaxy this season?

The hope that remains in terms of turning round the goal scoring stagnation in LA is built on the fact that the Mexican forward is due to come back to the team soon enough. The only two goals that LA Galaxy have scored have come from Dejan Joveljic, the 23-year-old Serbian forward and Kelvin Leerdam, their 32-year-old full-back.

The Mexican suffered a relapse in his return from a tendon injury in his right leg while training with the team, which is why he has been unable to play so far this campaign.

When will Chicharito return for LA Galaxy?

I am going to be out for 2 to 5 weeks more because we have to be careful not to suffer any more relapses”, the striker said on Twitch at the beginning of March. That means the waiting time should be somewhere around 15 days.

Last season, the club captain had a great personal season in which he put up fantastic numbers. In 38 games he scored 19 goals and got 3 assists. The return of the Mexican marksman can’t come soon enough.
