At the Banc of California stadium on Tuesday night, LAFC extended to seven their winning streak and they are now 18-4-3 on the season for a league-best 57 points.

LAFC are in pole position to win the Supporters’ Shield for the second time in franchise history and they are nine points ahead of Austin FC and the Philadelphia Union. This is the second longest winning streak in MLS since the Seattle Sounnders won nine consecutive games in the 2018 campaign.

We are happy with the three points. To win this game was very important for us and it solidified our lead in the division and in our race to win the Supporters’ Shield. Our game in the final third was quite sloppy and we need to improve in that,” said LAFC’s coach Steve Cherundolo after the game.

We had a good Max Crepeau in goal, who without him we could probably tie or lose. We will discuss this and review it to make a better performance against San Jose on Saturday.” The Canadian international made three key saves to keep the clean sheets and Kwadwo Opoku scored the game winning goal to give LAFC the three points, after an assist from Cristian Arango.

Bale and Chiellini missed another game

The two LAFC newcomers missed their second consecutive game due to aches and pains. It is expected that Bale and Chiellini rejoin the rest of the team in practice this week and they should be available to play on Saturday against San Jose Earthquakes. The Welshman has yet to make a start with LAFC in Major League Soccer and if healthy, Bale could be included in the starting eleven in a short week for the Los Angeles FC.
