LAFC hand record-scorer Denis Bouanga new long-term contract
The 2023 MLS Golden Boot winner recently became the first player in league history to score 20+ goals in three straight seasons.

Los Angeles Football Club have announced that Denis Bouanga has signed a long-term contract extension, tying down the club’s all-time record scorer. Bouanga has signed a new deal through 2028, with a player option for the 2029/30 season.
The 31-year-old has finished as the club’s top scorer in each of the last three seasons, recording a total of 105 goals and 43 assists across 155 appearances for the team. Bouanga was crowned MLS Golden Boot winner in 2023 with 38 goals in 48 games.

“I’m grateful to LAFC for the trust they’ve shown in me,” Bouanga said on Wednesday. “From the beginning, my family and I have felt at home in Los Angeles. It’s an honor to represent this club and our supporters every time I put on the jersey. I believe in what we are building here, and I’m motivated to keep improving, winning more trophies, and helping this club reach even higher.”
Denis Bouanga salary details
In MLS, a league with strict salary restrictions, all player compensation must be made public each season. However we haven’t yet reached the payroll release deadline in 2026 and LAFC have not reported Bouanga’s new salary in the renewal press release. Typically there is a league-wide salary update in May/June, meaning that fans will have to wait a few more months to discover Bouanga’s new salary.
In the meantime, we can make some assumptions about his earnings as one of the league’s most productive stars. In 2025 Bouanga’s designated player deal had an annual guaranteed compensation of $3.7 million, the 19th-highest in the league.
Over the offseason LAFC rebuffed serious interest from Inter Miami and Brazilian giants Fluminense. With Bouanga now re-signing with LAFC, it is fair to assume that he will have been given a healthy increase on his previous salary.
LAFC’s highest-earning player is Son Heung-min, who had an annual guaranteed compensation of $11.2 million last year. Bouanga is very unlikely to reach that level of compensation, given Son’s incredible commercial appeal and top-level career, but the Gabonese forward certainly deserves to be one of the best-paid players in MLS.
