Lamine Yamal bags a hat-trick in Dubai as Barcelona run riot

FC Barcelona, led by rising star Lamine Yamal, and Paris Saint-Germain were the big winners at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, as expected.

The young Blaugrana forward stole the spotlight, taking home three honors: LaLiga’s Best Under-23 Player, Best Forward of the Year, and the prestigious Maradona Award, given to the Best Young Talent.

In his acceptance speech, Yamal reflected on his journey. “Last year I was just the kid who had arrived, but now I feel the pressure of being an important player for my club and the national team. Thankfully, everything has gone well,” he said. “I think the best thing is not to compare yourself to anyone. Players like Cristiano achieved what they did because they wanted to be themselves.”

When asked what fans could expect from him in the future, Yamal jokingly replied, “Nothing, my mom’s in charge at home.”

Barcelona’s night of accolades

Other Spanish or Spanish-based stars also shone in Dubai. Aitana Bonmatí was named Best Female Player of the Year, Raphinha took Best LaLiga Player, and Barcelona coach Hansi Flick earned Best Coach in the Spanish league.

Barça itself was honored as Best Team in Spain, and also collected the Best Women’s Club of the Year award.

Ousmane Dembélé was crowned overall Best Men’s Player of the Year, with PSG winning Men’s Best Club of the Year for the first time.
