Lamine Yamal makes history with stunning hat-trick
The Barcelona forward fired the team to a 4-1 victory over Villareal, setting a record in the process.


Another day, another milestone for Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal. Still only 18 years old, Yamal fired Barça to a 4-1 victory over Villarreal with a stunning hat-trick on Saturday.
Barcelona began the game with Robert Lewandowski and Marcus Rashford on the bench, leaving Ferran Torres to lead the line at Camp Nou. Yamal was deployed in his usual position on the right flank and scored three times to bag his first professional hat-trick.

The second goal was particularly eye-catching. Yamal picked the ball up on the right touchline, before darting between two Villarreal defenders and curling an unstoppable shot past Luiz Júnior and into the back of the net.
Yamal completed his hat-trick midway through the second half and Lewandowski came off the bench to score a late fourth. Barcelona extend their lead at the top of LaLiga to four points, ahead of Real Madrid’s game against Getafe on Monday.
How many goals has Lamine Yamal scored?
With three goals on Saturday, Lamine Yamal moves to 26 goals in LaLiga across his young career. He is the first player this century to to reach 25 goals in one of Europe’s top five leagues before turning 19.
Yamal is also the youngest player to score their first LaLiga hat-trick this century, doing so at the age of 18 years and 230 days. He beats the previous record set by former Barcelona forward Giovani dos Santos, who struck a hat-trick against Real Murcia aged 19 years and 6 days.
Lamine Yamal now has 46 goals in 141 professional games for Barcelona, an astonishing tally for a young winger playing for one of the world’s elite clubs. The Spaniard now has six goals in his last six LaLiga matches and looks poised to fire Barcelona to compete on multiple fronts this season.
