Update:

At the presentation of the Spanish Supercopa final in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, attended by the president of the Spanish Football Federation Rafael Louzán, Real Madrid’s director of institutional relations Emilio Butragueño, and Barcelona president Joan Laporta, the three offered their views ahead of the final. Real Madrid play Barcelona on Sunday, with kick-off at 2p.m. ET.

Laporta

“Our relationship with Real Madrid is broken. There are a number of issues that have driven us apart. If we were already fierce rivals, we are even more so now. Everything can be put back on track in a civilized way, but right now the relationship is broken. We are extremely excited about winning. We want to relive last season, which was historic, and that starts by winning the Supercopa. This title has grown in prestige, and for that I want to congratulate the Federation.”

Butragueño

“For us, the next game is always the most important one, especially when it is a final. We want to make our fans happy, and we want to thank them, especially those in Saudi Arabia, who always welcome us in a wonderful way.”

Louzán

“Thanks to both teams, the fans, and the 80 grassroots clubs that are with us. Also to the two other teams that are no longer here, Atlético and Athletic. Tomorrow we will see another Clásico, the Clásico of world football, which fills us with pride, and it also does so for this country, which enjoys hosting the Supercopa.”
