Leo Suárez quits América to join Pumas
The Argentine forward, a Liga MX champion with the Águilas, is keen for more playing time which is why he accepted Pumas’ offer.
Pumas completed what may well be their final signing for the Clausura 2024 - Argentine winger Leonardo Suárez, a recent Liga MX champion with América, joins in search of more playing that he has been getting with the Coapa team. On Wednesday, the 27-year-old will undergo a medical examination before signing a contract that will keep him in Pedregal until 2026.
Leo Suárez’s transfer is not without controversy. He will become the first foreign player to be involved in a direct transaction between América and Pumas, and the fifth player to make the move overall. Pumas found themselves leaning towards the Azulcrema winger after having several other options from abroad turned down - a situation that led them to search the local market. According to various reports, the transfer fee is believed to be around $5 million.
