León accepts Fernando Hernández’s apology after player kneed in crown jewels

Probably the most searched name in Mexican soccer this weekend was Fernando Hernández, the referee who had a run-in with the player from León, Lucas Romero, in the match against América. The official sent a message on his personal Twitter account where he apologized for the incident.

Five hours later, the León account responded to Hernández accepting his apology and sending good wishes to him and his family.

“To the fans and the public in general, I apologize, as well as Lucas Romero for my reaction yesterday,” Hernández posted. “I would never attack him, nor any other player. Aware of this, I will abide accordingly by the resolution that the Disciplinary Commission takes.”

In response the club posted:

“Fernando: Club León players, coaching staff and board of directors, understand the situation. You have our backing and support as a soccer professional and father of a family, to whom we send an affectionate hug. Let’s keep working together to improve this great sport. Chin up and let’s move on.”

In this way, everything seems to indicate that the situation between the protagonists of this unfortunate event is now settled and without any bitterness. Now we await the decision from the Commission.
