This will be the last time that the playoff round, the repechage, will be played - it will be removed under a series of format changes that will come into force starting from the next tournament (Apertura 2023). The dates and kick-off times for the four playoff matches were due to be announced on Monday but due to a delay, the schedule is expected to be revealed on Tuesday morning, local time.
All of the playoff games will be played this weekend with two games on Saturday and and two on Sunday. Journalist David Medrano explained, “It will be this Tuesday at 11 a.m. when the meeting with the eight repechage clubs will take place to choose days and kick-off times”.

Canelo fight affected by playoffs
There have been other issues for the FMF to deal with. On Saturday, Saúl Álvarez returns home to Guadalajara to fight John Ryder with the bout taking place at Akron Stadium. That has caused caused complications for television broadcasters who will be trying to cover both events. The organisers have been trying to find a way to ensure that they do not overlap.
