Liga MX club sets impressive record on Apertura Matchday 8
In the latest round of games in the Liga MX’s Apertura 2025 tournament, Tigres again proved a major draw.
Matchday 8 of the 2025 Apertura tournament delivered fireworks, headlined by the highly anticipated Clásico Nacional between Club América and Chivas. In a dramatic turn of events, El Rebaño Sagrado finally snapped their winless streak against Las Águilas in what is arguably their most emotionally charged fixture of the season. But while this rivalry clash stole the spotlight, it wasn’t the only game that made headlines.
One of the ongoing battles each week in Liga MX is for the highest match attendance - a category Tigres have consistently dominated throughout the tournament. In fact, through the first eight rounds, Tigres have led attendance figures in four separate matchdays, underscoring their strong fanbase and the draw of their home games at Estadio Universitario.
This week was no exception. Tigres’ home match against León drew an impressive crowd of 40,186 fans, marking the fourth time this season that Los Felinos hosted the most attended game of the round.
Their reign began back in Matchday 2, when Tigres welcomed FC Juárez and packed 41,615 supporters into the stands. They followed that up with another massive turnout against Puebla in San Nicolás de los Garza, where 40,023 fans showed up. These numbers continue to set the benchmark for attendance at UANL’s home ground.
Lowest attendance of the week
On the other end of the spectrum, Mazatlán hosted Pumas at Estadio El Encanto in what turned out to be the least attended match of the round. Only 10,606 fans made their way to the stadium in Sinaloa, a stark contrast to the roaring crowds seen elsewhere across the league.
