Tigres have reached an agreement with Florian Thauvin, who has officially parted company with the Liga MX club after signing his contract termination.

Midfielder Thauvin, who has earned 10 France caps and was part of Les Bleus’ World Cup-winning squad in 2018, is now a free agent.

Tigres can now register Ibáñez in Liga MX

Sources have told AS México that Thauvin accepted the conditions of his settlement and signed on the dotted line without any problems.

Having freed up a permitted foreign-player spot in their squad, Los Felinos can now register Argentinian striker Nicolás Ibáñez, who has joined from Pachuca.

Liga MX rules limit clubs in Mexico’s top division to no more than 10 non-homegrown players in their squads.

Thauvin ends unsuccessful spell in Mexico

On Tuesday, Thauvin turned up at Tigres’ Cedeco training ground with his team of lawyers, sparking doubts over whether or not there would be an easy resolution to his exit from the club.

However, the former Marseille player’s departure has been successfully pushed through. Thauvin’s compatriot, Tigres striker André-Pierre Gignac, is understood to have personally asked the club to reach the best possible settlement with the 30-year-old.

Thauvin spent a year and a half with Tigres, scoring eight goals and supplying five assists in 35 appearances for the seven-time Mexican champions.
