And breathe! It doesn't get much better than that but it's not the result Puebla would have wanted. 

América defeats Puebla 6-1 on the road and they are will be playing in the semifinals unless a catastrophe occurs.

Antony Silva blocks the shot from Diego Valdés, but the Puebla goalkeeper was not able to control the ball and Alejandro Zendejas rushed in to tap it and find the back of the net.

Maximiliano Araujo controls the ball inside the box, cuts to his right side and attempts a shot on goal, but it goes over the cross bar.

América is looking for another goal. This time is Henry Martín who receives a through ball inside the box and shot from close range, but it went over the cross bar.

Zendejas' shot barely goes wide! Henry Martín lets the ball go through his legs and Alejandro Zendejas had time to control it and shoot with his left foot from just outside box. Unfortunately, the shot was not quite on target.

Henry Martín scores again! But the goal was annulled because the Club América striker was offside.

The VAR checked a possible penalty for Club América following a foul against Alejandro Zendejas inside the box. It took a few minutes, but the ref resumed the game and no penalty was awarded for the visiting side.

Not this time Henry Martín! Valdés gave a brilliant ball to Henry Martín, but the Club América striker's shot went wide. He had time to control it and finish better, but he rushed the play and his shot from close range ended up on the stands.

Henry Martín makes a brilliant control with his chest to bring the ball down inside the box following a cross and the Mexico international shot from close range to score his first goal in the play-offs. The VAR checked if Martín touched the ball with his hand, but they confirmed it was a legitimate goal and América wins 2-1.

What a strike from Álvaro Fidalgo! The Club América player makes a solo play and riffles the ball with his right foot, but he hit the post. After watching the replay, it was Antony Silva who barely touched the ball and that is why it hit the post.

Puebla is showing great discipline on defense and this is making it hard for Club América to find the path to score.

Alejandro Zendejas received a through ball down the right flank and he attempted a low cross looking for Henry Martín, but it was blocked by a defender from Puebla by the penalty spot.

Cortizo opens the scoreboard

What a great play from Puebla! Cortizo was onside and was able to deflect the ball following a one-time shot from Federico Mancuello from outside the box. This is the first goal of the game and the home side takes the early lead. 

Puebla answered back! Barragán gave a one-time pass to Omar Fernández, but he struggled to control the ball inside the box and Nestor Araujo was able to clear the danger away.

Diego Valdés shot from outside the box barely goes wide. What a great strike from Club América's No. 10, but it was not on target.

The field is wet due to the heavy rain that poured down hours before the game and this is causing players to slip and struggle to control the ball at Estadio Cuauhtémoc.

Rodríguez received the ball on the left flank and tried to cross the ball, but it was blocked by a defender from Puebla. 

America's best player

Following the collision with Zendejas, Silva asked the ref to stop the game and the medical staff came in because he was lightly bleeding on his forehead. Fortunately, the Puebla goalkeeper will be able to continue and the game has resumed.

What a miss opportunity for Club América! Alejandro Zendejas entered to box and instead of looking for the back of the net, he tried to cross the ball. Goalkeeper Antony Silva comes out and block the shot, a great save from him to prevent the first goal of the night, 

Henry Martín steals the ball and as he was fighting with Lucas Maia for the ball, the Mexican striker goes down asking for a penalty. But the ref didn't bought it and let the play continue.

It has been raining all day and the people that work at the stadium have been trying to clear the field so it is ready for kick off. While that happens, players from both teams are warming up prior to the start of the match.

Sunday night saw the playoffs for the Apertura 2022 in Liga MX come to an end and we now have the eight teams that will be playing in the quarter-finals of this tournament. In the last game of the ‘repechaje’, Puebla needed penalties to beat Chivas in a dramatic game at the Estadio Cuauhtemoc and became the fourth home side to progress after Cruz Azul, Tigres and Toluca had already seen off opposition from Club León, Necaxa and Juárez, respectively.
