Ligue 1 title sees Messi equal Dani Alves record
A 1-1 draw away to Strasbourg was good enough for Paris Saint-Germain to secure their 11th Ligue 1 title win.

When Qatar Sports Investments landed in Paris in 2011 with the intention of putting PSG on the global map, the club had barely won two league. Eleven years on, the Parisian giants now dominate Ligue 1, turning it into a championship in which they win at a canter and the title wins go some way at least in masking the annual disappointments in the Champions League.

On Saturday night after recording a 1-1 with Strasbourg, PSG became the only French team in history to win 11 Ligue 1 titles with this being the ninth under Qatari management.

Messi equals Alves
Although a cloud of mystery shrouds the next chapter in Lionel Messi’s club career, the Argentine’s goal helped PSG secure the draw in Strasbourg that delivered the eleventh league title for the Parc des Princes side.
It also saw Messi secure his 43rd major honour and saw the Rosario born player draw level with Dani Alves who has also claimed 43 major titles during his career.
