According to L’Équipe in France, some players in the PSG camp have been “shocked” as a result of a trip Lionel Messi made to Saudi Arabia after the match against Lorient on Sunday, which ended in defeat.

The PSG players were to have two days’ rest if they won the Ligue 1 match, hence Messi’s planned trip to Saudi Arabia, to take advantage of the time off. However, the defeat changed the club’s plans, and head coach Christophe Galtier decided that the team would train the day after the defeat. And they did, but without Messi.

Messi’s trip not going down well in Paris

The Argentinian was already in Saudi Arabia when his team-mates turned up for training on Monday. According to L’Equipe, it has irritated part of the dressing room and has not been well received by the supporters either. The club don’t want to give the impression that the players are on holiday when they are still fighting to win the French title, with Marseille now just five points behind in second place.
