Webster: De Zerbi will take us to new level
Adam Webster is sure Albion can continue to build in the right direction under Roberto De Zerbi.
The 27-year-old is aware of the demands the head coach has liked to put on his defenders in possession at previous clubs and is relishing the opportunity to do that in an Albion shirt.
"You always want to play in teams that are in possession, that control the game and I feel like we’re going to go to a new level with that. It suits us – Dunky, Joel and me are all comfortable in possession, we love to have the ball and it’s music to our ears. Hopefully it will help us all improve."
Brighton boys in town
De Zerbi and Brighton will be confident of getting a result today.
Liverpool vs Brighton: over the years
Liverpool haven’t won either of their last two matches against Brighton at Anfield although they have won seven of the 10 meetings between the teams since the Seagulls were promoted to the Premier League in 2017.
Liverpool and Brighton went more than 20 years without facing each other between 1991 and 2011, during which time Brighton had a spell in the bottom division in the English Football League.
Brighton's season so far
Brighton, on the other hand, have enjoyed a superb start to the season, surpassing expectations in the first few weeks of the campaign. The Seagulls amassed 13 points from their first six Premier League games under Graham Potter, who has since left to join Chelsea. Can new boss Roberto De Zerbi keep Brighton’s momentum going? He’s got a very tough start with a match against Tottenham Hotspur following the trip to Anfield.
Liverpool's season so far
Liverpool sit all the way down in 8th spot in the table after an uncertain start to the season by their own high standards. Jürgen Klopp’s men have only won two of their opening six Premier League fixtures and are already nine and eight points behind Arsenal and Manchester City respectively. They do, however, have a game in hand after their last fixture away to Chelsea was postponed following the bereavement of Queen Elizabeth II.

Klopp: Liverpool must embrace the challenge in front of them
Klopp - writing in today's matchday programme notes - says: "No-one here is hiding from the fact we have had a far from ideal start to the campaign. But at the same time, we all see the opportunity that is right in front of us.
"Between now and the break for the World Cup we are 'game, game, game, game'. It is persistent. It is relentless. But that's been our life at LFC for as long as I can remember.
"We have to embrace this challenge. See it as pressure of opportunity. It starts, as always, with me as the manager and my staff - but it's the same for the players and the supporters.
"Everything we have achieved at LFC in recent years has been because we have been a strong collective. We don't need to remind ourselves of this necessarily, but it is our 'not-so-secret-sauce'.
"We are greater than the sum of our parts. And I am confident it will be this that carries us through this extraordinary period coming between now and mid-November.
"A strong collective is a part of it. The other is a laser-like focus on what we can positively impact. For us it has to always be the next game and the next game only. As aware as we are of the remarkable schedule, the only thing that matters is the game right in front of you.
"Brighton is the most important match of our season; the beginning and the end. All of us, from the pitch, to the dugout, to the stands… we have to give our all for this game. This 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Yesterday can only help for information and tomorrow we will address when it arrives. We must be in the present - in the moment - in the here and now for all of these games."
