Liverpool 1-1 Crystal Palace: as it happened
Palace pick up first point
Palace have picked up their first point of the new season. Vieira's side took the lead with a fine Zaha finish but despite having an extra man, they couldn't keep their lead. Luis Diaz's stunner sees them head back to London with a valuable point.
Poor start by Liverpool's standards
Liverpool only dropped 6 points from the start of 2022 to the end of the 2021-22 Premier League season.
Two games into the 2022-23 campaign and they’ve already dropped 4 points…

It's a great result for Palace. Liverpool will feel they have dropped two more points.
Palace have a throw and move slowly into Liverpool's half.
Alisson sends it long!
And now we have a fan on the pitch! Not what Klopp wanted as his team attacked.
Liverpool are up the other end...
Andersen slides in at the back post but fails to connect properly with it!
Palace have a corner of their own now...

It looks like it's creeping in...
But his volley goes just wide.

The Anfield crowd roars on its team as we enter the last five minutes of the 90.
Palace, once again, head away another Liverpool free from the left.
Vieira makes triple change
Andersen heads away another chipped cross. He has been absolutely everywhere tonight! 1-1
ZAHA!
He hits the post!
It's a huge chance to put Palace in front. He's sliding in at the back post but can't convert and get a brace...
Henderson sends it long from right to left but it's too high for Diaz to control. Palace play it out from the back through Andersen, who is getting booed at every opportunity. Because it was his fault that Núñez headbutted him!
Liverpool have responded very well to going down to 10 men. Salah forces a corner on the right. It's headed away superbly by Édouard.
Anfield is getting louder! It's still 1-1
Salah flicks it through for Alexander-Arnold but the Englishman smashes it wide. He's normally more composed than that.
Liverpool are on top again despite being down to 10 men.
Ward is booked for fouling Diaz from behind.
Tsimikas is fouled by Édouard. Liverpool have a free out on the left, about 40 yards from goal.
Tsimikas' goes straight out into touch.

It's an absolute screamer by Luis Diaz!
The home side have it all to do! Palace lead 0-1 and have an extra man.
Liverpool are now moving to a 4-4-1 formation as they go down to 10 men.
It's very silly from the Uruguayan striker. Andersen pushes him from behind, he then turns around and headbutts Andersen, before being deservedly sent off for reacting.
Darwin Núñez has been SENT OFF!
Zaha is Palace's main outlet. This time he goes down the left wing but it ends up going into touch. Liverpool have struggled with his speed and movement tonight.
Núñez has had three chances tonight and has been quite wasteful in front of goal.
Núñez runs through and Liverpool are looking for a handball as Palace defend for their lives. Referee Paul Tierney waves play on! No VAR for this one...
I have no changes to report. The sides remain unchanged.
Palace lead at Anfield thanks to Zaha's first-half strike!
Liverpool get us underway for the second half!
HT: Liverpool 0-1 Crystal Palace
Right on half-time Núñez hits the post for Liverpool, after chesting down Elliott's cross at the back post. Palace lead at the break thanks to Zaha's neat finish.
Liverpool have a corner!
There will be three minutes added on!

Zaha is unplayable in his free role. Liverpool will need to lift their game but can't deal with Zaha's movement.
Zaha is through on goal again!
This time his first touch lets him down and Alisson sprints off his line to block the shot. Palace could be two goals to the good!
Zaha stings the palms of Alisson from the edge of the box. Palace's tails are up as we approach the last five minutes of the first half.
Doucouré finds himself in acres of space and tries his luck from 30 yards. It sails over Alisson's bar.
It’s a stunning counter-attacking goal from Palace against the run of play. The assist from Eze was excellent too. Liverpool are still on top but Palace have a first-half lead.
Liverpool 0-1 Crystal Palace
Zaha puts Palace in front!
It's a perfectly timed run from Zaha, who buries it low and hard into the far corner. It's a super goal against the run of play.
Goooooooooooaaaaaaaaaal!!!
ZAHA!!!
SALAH!
It's those two again. Alexander-Arnold picks up the ball centrally and spins away from his man, before floating a ball over the top for Salah. The Egyptian forward directs his header goalward but Guaita saves. 0-0
Clyne takes it off Elliott as he is about to pull the trigger inside the box. Liverpool continue to threaten but have failed to break the deadlock.
Trent drives another superb ball into the path of Salah, who hits it first time, but it flies wide of the Palace post. Liverpool are getting so much joy on the right.
Andersen slides to block Salah's low cross from the right. Andersen has been solid as Liverpool move through the gears again.
Eze is flagged for offside. Van Dijk steps up as the Palace player runs through on goal.
Liverpool's intensity has naturally dropped and Palace have a breather.
The home side go forward again. Luis Diaz spins, but his shot is deflected off Andersen and into the hands of Guaita.
Liverpool have Palace stuck in their own half through intense pressure and width. The only player with a free role for the away side is Zaha.
It's all Liverpool so far. Fabinho is sitting in the holding midfield role. Without the injured Thiago, the play is going through Fabinho.

Liverpool XI
Liverpool: Alisson (GK), Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Phillips, Robertson, Fabinho, Milner, Elliott, Salah, Nunez, Diaz.
Schlupp gives pre-match thoughts
Crystal Palace player Jeff Schlupp has been talking to the media ahead of kick-off.
“[The mood] has been positive to be honest,” he said. “I think the performance [against Arsenal] especially in the second-half was really good, so plenty of positives to take from that game.
“We’ve come here to get a result, we’ve not just come here for another game. Throughout the team and the staff we all believe that we can do that.
“We know they’re a top team, there is always pressure to win games. Everyone probably expects them to win this game but they had a different start to the one they would have liked, but they’re still a top team at the end of the day
“We’ve come here to hopefully upset them and get a result.”

Liverpool injuries but Klopp happy with squad
Jurgen Klopp has had to contend with the disruption of several injuries, but he reiterated the Reds are not planning to go into the transfer market.
“If there was the right player and an opportunity, we would have done it, we would do it, but I don’t see it because we had a lot of conversations already and it doesn’t look like something will happen,” he added.
“I’m happy with the strength, size and quality of my squad but we have injuries. There are plenty of solutions for it. One of them is the transfer market, but that only makes sense if you can bring in the right player.
“All the other solutions are inside the squad. We have too many injuries, that’s clear. Naby [Keita] will be back for Monday and Kostas [Tsimikas] will train for the first time, so he might be back as well.”
Crystal Palace arrive at Anfield
Palace have arrived and will head out for their pre-match warm up shortly.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp thinks it is “crazy” how quickly critics were on the backs of Darwin Núñez and Erling Haaland in pre-season.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Monday’s clash with Crystal Palace, Klopp said: “Five weeks ago, when we started pre-season and [Núñez] had his first game and it didn’t look great from the outside world.
“Not for us, but it’s crazy how quick we judge people… wow!
“Imagine if somebody did that to us and said, ‘First day of work, it didn’t work out. Go home, we never want to see you again! And you don’t get a second chance by the way’ – we would have all been long gone! No chance.
“Everybody can now see, ‘Ah he’s a proper striker’ – so good for us and good for him.
“He’s a handful and is a different type to what we had. He’s very lively and very energetic. Physically he’s really strong and technically he’s really good, that obviously goes together with being more settled and confident and more secure in yourself in a new environment.
“You can’t say, ‘Come on, you have to give me 100 per cent immediately’ – you have to develop it and that’s what we’re doing at the moment and in a good way.
“It’s funny as well, we won against Manchester City the week before the season and everybody was asking, ‘Will Haaland score this and that?’
“A week is like 10 years in football!”
Palace XI
Vieira has named his starting XI for the trip to Anfield.
Liverpool starting XI
Klopp has named the following team for tonight's game!
Liverpool look for first win of season
Manchester City have hit the ground running with the reigning champions having recorded two wins from two after their 4-0 demolition of AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.
Liverpool will know that after a 2-2 draw away to Fulham on the opening weekend of the new season that maximum points are imperative against the South Londoners.
Recent history does not favour the visitors either for Monday’s contest as Jurgen Klopp’s men have won 10 Premier League games in a row against Crystal Palace since a 2-1 Anfield defeat in April 2017.
Klopp confident the goals will come for Diaz
Luis Diaz's finishing let him down at Fulham, but Jurgen Klopp says the Colombia international can score 10-15 goals this season.
Jurgen Klopp is confident the goals will come for Luis Diaz after the winger was wasteful in the 2-2 draw at Fulham last weekend.
Diaz missed two Opta-defined 'big chances' in the Reds' opening match of the Premier League season at Craven Cottage, rattling the post in the first half.
The Colombia international took no time to settle at Anfield following his big-money move from Porto in January, scoring six goals and providing five assists in 26 appearances last season.
Liverpool lost Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich in June, but Klopp is backing Diaz to help fill the void left by the Senegal forward.
Asked if Diaz can score 10-15 goals this season, the Reds manager said: "Oh definitely, that is his quality. We need to see but of course that is his potential.
"We work on it but not with Luis specifically. We don't take him out because the other two scored and he didn't, so we show him how. That's not necessary. It's not a problem. You can't force it
"Last week people were asking ‘How can you play without Sadio?' but in November/December everybody was thinking about when he would score the next goal, and Mo [Salah] was on fire. You just let it go.
"You see the situations Luis had, big chances, and he was just unlucky. He started on the first day with us and took part in all the sessions and that is the most important thing.
"All the rest will come. In the long term it is of course not a problem. It is about being prepared and fighting through moments like this."
Palace are in town
We'll have the Crystal Palace team news for you as soon as it's out!
The Premier League is officially 30 years old.
On Saturday, 15 August, 1992, the Premier League’s inaugural season began with a packed schedule of 15:00 kick-offs.
Its foundation came as a result of clubs in the old First Division breaking away from the Football League in order to maximise their earning potential, with much of that initially focused around the possibility of lucrative TV rights deals.
As the Football Association (FA) had a strained relationship with the Football League at the time, the FA backed plans for the formation of the breakaway league, and in July 1991 the Founder Members Agreement was signed by the top-flight clubs.
