Jürgen Klopp is about to construct Liverpool for what must be the one millionth time. Despite the poor return he is seeing this season, in which Liverpool occupy 8th place and have as their sole objective to make it into the Champions League (they are 8 points from 4th), the German coach is in a strong position to lead The Reds for the ninth season running.

Along with the exit of important players over the past few years such as Wijnaldum and Mané, the exodus that the club will see in the coming summer will serve as a huge turning point in the restructuring of the squad. It will be one of the most important renovations Liverpool have seen in a decade.

The departure of Sadio Mané has been seen by many as one of the factors in Liverpool's downfall this season.

Keita’s injury-ridden stint in England

This difference is clear to see in the centre of the pitch, where up to seven players finish their contracts on 30 June, added to the fact that James Milner’s future is still up in the air. As well as the already known exit of Firmino, the player that Klopp has used the most since his arrival (350 games), Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain make the list. Ferocious Tweeter Fabrizio Romano confirmed the information that had been murmured and whispered across England for some time: Keita, despite the €60 million price tag, is not going to be a Liverpool player when his deal expires.

The ex-Leipzig midfielder has seen his time at Liverpool plagued by injuries and he never got to fully show the best version of himself as a player in the side. The same thing happened with The Ox: 22/23 is his 6th season at the club yet he has only started 70 out of 146 games.

Who will Liverpool sign in midfield?

Arthur Melo is a special case. He arrived on loan from Juventus and also had physical issues: over seven months he has hardly played, having featured for just 13 minutes with the first team (against Napoli in the Champions League group stage). Liverpool will, as expected, not extend the deal they have with the player, and the same will likely happen with their third-choice goalkeeper, Adrián.

In this way, Liverpool’s rebuild in the middle of the pitch, having not yet signed anyone to replace the outgoings (wink face emoji) will have a mixtures of youth and experience for the future. Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago will mix with Harvey Elliott, Stefan Bajcetic and Fábio Carvalho. However, given the injury issues with most of them, Klopp will be looking for more reinforcements for the zone. Apart from Jude Bellingham, the names of Mason Mount and Matheus Nunes have been linked with the club over recent weeks.
