Liverpool’s Luis Diaz speaks about Barcelona’s interest: what did he say?
The forward, expected to be one of Colombia’s key players in the Copa America, is one of Barcelona’s main objectives this summer.
Barcelona are working to add some quality players to their roster after a disappointing season. With Xavi Hernandez’s departure and Hansi Flick appointed as the new coach, the team is looking for new players to strengthen some positions.
One of them is the left wing, where Liverpool forward Luis Suarez is regarded as one of the best players that could fill in. The Colombian is Sporting Director Deco’s first choice, and given his sympathy for the Catalan club, he’s considered one of the most attractive players in the market, as a potential signing wouldn’t be as expensive as other names.
The player is currently focused on his national team, Colombia, as the South American squad is preparing for the upcoming Copa America, which will be played in the United States. They will play against Bolivia on Saturday before taking on Paraguay in their opening Copa America match.
What did Luis Diaz say about Barcelona’s interest?
Barcelona president and Deco know that the club won’t be able to make big signings due to the entity’s financial problems, but are aware they will have to add some new talented players if they want to be competitive next season.
The Barcelona management isn’t happy with Raphinha’s performances with the Catalan giants and will try to find a move for the Brazilian international this summer.
However, despite Barcelona’s interest in Diaz, the player doesn’t seem very interested in leaving Liverpool, where he admitted he’s happy.
“I am very happy at Liverpool, it is a great team and club, I always wanted to play there, so I am very happy and relaxed. I’m not thinking about anything else, I’m thinking about the Colombian team, which is where we are,” Diaz said to Gol Caracol.
A Diaz departure from Liverpool seems complicated enough after the forward’s comments, but also because the English club wouldn’t let one of his best players go without asking for a high fee.
