The transfer window in the Liga MX continues with more movement ahead of next week’s deadline day. The latest to be traded is Argentine forward Lucas Di Yorio who moves from Pachuca to Athletico Paranaense. The 27-year-old spent just one season with the Tuzos but did not manage to establish himself as the reference in attack that the board was looking for. For that reason he was placed on the transfer list - a solution which in the end suits all parties.

According to transfer market expert César Luis Merlo: “Athletico Paranaense have completed the transfer of Lucas Di Yorio, who played for Pachuca in the last Apertura 2023. The player will have a contract for four years, until December 2027. #Done deal”. Di Yorio will continue his professional career within the Brazilian Campeonato Série A.

Di Yorio touched down in the Liga MX in 2022, joining León on a one-year loan deal for $815,000. It was with León where, incidentally, he posted his best figures with eight goals in 17 games as well as winning last year’s CONCACAF Champions League - he hit the winner in the deciding second leg of the final against LAFC.

Lucas joined the Tuzos ahead of the Apertura 2023 and accumulated just over a thousand minutes of playing time in 15 games. He was a regular starter for Uruguayan coach Guillermo Almada but his efficiency let him down - he finished the campaign with just two goals (against Mazatlán and Puebla). With Salomón Rondón’s arrival for the Clausura 2024 it was just a matter of time before another team was found for him.
