Luis Rubiales’ mother ‘weak’ as she continues her hunger strike after first night locked in local church
The mother of the RFEF president is said to be ‘weak’ and ‘in shock’, yet she is stable and with her sister.
The mother of the suspended Spanish Football Federation president Luis Rubiales, Ángeles Béjar, has spent the first night in protest locked inside the Divine Pastor Church in Granada, southern Spain, as she continues her hunger strike in support of her son.
She says that the currently suspended Rubiales, who forcefully kissed World Cup winner Jenni Hermoso on the lips during the medal presentation after the final of the tournament, has been subjected to a “hunt” which she calls “inhumane” and “bloodthirsty”.

This comes after 200 villagers from Motril gathered on Monday evening in support of Rubiales, with banners saying to ‘Stop the hunt of Rubiales’ and ‘Jenni, why don’t you tell the truth?’. A group supporting Rubiales got the group together and sent a message out on social media asking for people to join.
