Luka Jovic is slowly trying to rediscover himself. The Serbian striker, who amazed the whole of Europe during his time at Eintracht is hoping he can return to that kind of devastating form with his new club, Fiorentina - the club he joined after disassociating himself from Real Madrid. Starting out all over again in Italy has not been easy, although his figures improved last month. He has scored five goals in eight games, making Viola fans excited about seeing the best Jovic once again. This week, he spoke to television back home in his native Serbia about how he his finding his feet in Italy and his time at Real Madrid.

Choosing Fiorentina: “I made the decision after thinking it all over and after seeing for myself what each offer might bring me at the time. I decided to join Fiorentina even though I had offers from bigger clubs. Not to mention the financial side. Everyone knows that I sacrificed myself financially to come here. I consider that coming to Fiorentina is a good springboard for me to return to my previous form and to return to a great club,” Jovic told ATV.

Time at Real Madrid. “It was good. A great experience for me and I am honoured to have been part of the biggest club in the world. However, I think I joined Real Madrid too early in my career, and just at the moment I arrived, Karim Benzema’s form really exploded he and deservedly won the Ballon d’Or. I was unlucky at first. First the coronavirus pandemic happened, then I had some injuries, but it was definitely a great experience for me.”

Which Real Madrid players stands out: “I wouldn’t want to single out anyone for their playing qualities, but Benzema really left a mark on me and, of course, also Luka Modric, who was always there for me. Luka is one of the best players in the history of Real Madrid”.
