Luka Modric (37) has rejected an offer from Saudi side Al Hilal, who offered him €200 million to play in the Saudi Pro League for three seasons. The Croatian midfielder will remain at Real Madrid for another season, refusing to join the former team-mates Cristiano Ronaldo (38) and Karim Benzema (35) in Saudi Arabia, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Modric had an offer from Madrid to continue for one more season, and that is what the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner has decided. The offer, presented by Saad Alladhidh and Lee Anderson, covered the player in gold, but the comfort, tranquillity and serenity in which his family lives in Madrid, have made him reject the proposal.

Nations League final

He feared the worst regarding his future at Real Madrid, but a meeting with club president Florentino Pérez calmed the situation. He wanted to continue competing with Los Blancos despite being 37. With enthusiasm, ambition and desire to continue fighting for Real Madrid, Modric will continue for one more season. In the Nations League final on Sunday, he will face Spain, the country in which he has established himself as one of the world’s great midfielders. After that, he will go on holiday and on 20 July, he will report back to pre-season training under Carlo Ancelotti and Antonio Pintus.
