Madrid-City UCL clash to take place three days after Copa del Rey final
The exact dates have been confirmed by UEFA for the Champions League semi-final games as Madrid face Manchester City.
With FC Barcelona running away with the 2022-23 LaLiga title, as the Catalan club hold an 11 point advantage over ‘Los Blancos’ with just nine games of the current season, Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti focuses his attention on the two cup competitions that Madrid are still active in.
Following a 4-1 aggregate win over Barça in the semi-final of the Copa del Rey, Madrid are in their first Spanish Cup final since 2014 when they overcame their Catalan rivals with a 2-1 after extra time win. The opponents this year are Osasuna after the side from Pamplona ousted Athletic Club in their semi-final match up to set up a meeting with the side from the capital.
The 2022-23 final will be staged at Sevilla’s La Cartuja stadium on Saturday 6 May at 3 pm (ET) and just three days later, Ancelotti’s men will play, arguably their biggest game of the season to date as they welcome Manchester City to the Bernabeu on Tuesday, 9 May, just three days after the Copa final.
Champions League dates confirmed
The return leg of the Champions League semi-final will go ahead the following week in Manchester at the Etihad Stadium on 17 May.
In the other semi-final clash, both Milan giants go head-to-head at the iconic San Siro Stadium with games taking place on 10 and 16 May.
The showpiece Champions League final will take place on 10 June at Istanbul’s Atatürk Olympic Stadium.
