Man United round-up: daily Old Trafford digest....Ten Hag, Vardy, Bruno Fernandes, Liverpool fixture...

As the fallout from the two opening defeats rumble on, United now turn their attention to the forthcoming Old Trafford fixture against Liverpool next Monday.

Manchester United have come in for huge criticism following their poor start to the season, having failed to land major off-season transfer targets the Old Trafford side are eager to add reinforcements as the club looks forward to next Monday’s Premier League fixture at home to Liverpool.

Fernandes singled out

Speaking on TalkSport, former Premier League star Gabriel Agbonlahor has openly criticized the Portugal international for his displays in these two games.

“Bruno Fernandes has great statistics but he is the worst team-mate of all. Every time he or a United player loses the ball, he raises his arms to his teammates or the bench. I have played with players like him and their behaviour leaves you fuming. Imagine what the stick would be like if it were Pogba? He’d be massacred by the press”, assured the former Villa striker.“ Fernandes always gets away with it and avoids stick from the media. It’s easy for them to point the finger at say Maguire, Cristiano, Rashford and Sancho. I don’t remember the last time Bruno Fernandes played a decent match. He’s always the one gesturing with his arms. Even when he gives the ball away. He could be offside and would find a reason to blame someone else. That’s the kind of player Bruno Fernandes is. The worst possible teammate”, he concluded.

Next up.... Liverpool

What better way for Erik ten Hag and United to get their campaign back on track with an Old Trafford win over long standing rivals Liverpool who travel to Manchester on Monday 22 August.

United fans will be anxious to avoid remembering the Premier League meetings between both sides last season when Jurgen Klopp’s side comprehensively outplayed United in both games recording a 4-0 win at Anfield ahead of humiliating the ‘Red Devils’ at Old Trafford with a 0-5 victory.

Liverpool too have failed to hit the high notes in the season openers recording two draws (2-2 away to Fulham and 1-1 at home to Crystal Palace).

Vardy quest

Manchester United are considering a bid for Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy to solve their striker conundrum, claims The Athletic.

The Red Devils have endured a frustrating transfer window and have only netted once in their opening two league games.

Vardy is among a number of targets United are keen on, having also been linked with Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to sources in the UK.

Away defeats

Following Saturday’s 0-4 humbling at Brentford, United completed a record in assembling seven consecutive away defeats for the first time since 1936.
