Update:

Aurélien Tchouaméni has made it increasingly clear that he sees his future at Real Madrid. Through both his public comments and actions, the French midfielder has consistently signaled his desire to remain at the Santiago Bernabéu.

After emerging as one of Madrid’s most consistent performers last season, Tchouaméni has attracted interest from several top European clubs. Among the most determined is Manchester United, whose executives are reportedly prepared to commit significant money to land a player they view as essential to restoring the club to the top after years of disappointment.

Real Madrid sets Tchouaméni price

Inside Real Madrid, club officials remain alert to the possibility of departures, even as they continue to value the core of the squad. The front office still believes the roster needed freshening after last season, but that does not mean stars will be allowed to leave cheaply.

In fact, the club has established a clear benchmark for any potential sale. Following its internal valuation of academy graduate Nico Paz at almost $140 million, Real Madrid intends to demand approximately $115 million for any first-team player it would even consider selling.

As previously reported by this newspaper, Madrid’s strategy has shifted. The club now expects elite-level transfer negotiations to begin in nine-figure territory, meaning any team interested in one of its top players should expect an asking price in the region of $115 million.

Manchester United’s search continues

The transfer market is now watching Manchester United closely. Long known for making headlines during transfer windows, the Premier League giant is under pressure to strengthen its midfield following Casemiro’s move to Inter Miami.

United’s preferred target had been Mateus Fernandes, but Tottenham secured his signing from West Ham. The club also explored a move for Elliot Anderson before Manchester City reportedly shattered expectations by paying approximately $155 million to Nottingham Forest.

With those options no longer available, United has once again turned its attention to Real Madrid.

A history of deals between United and Madrid

Some of Real Madrid’s biggest sales in recent years have ended at Old Trafford.

Raphaël Varane joined Manchester United in the summer of 2021 in a deal worth around $58 million. One year later, Casemiro followed for approximately $82 million, becoming another marquee addition from the Spanish powerhouse.

Now United is once again looking to the Bernabéu for reinforcements.

Relations between the two clubs remain strong, with executives enjoying a long history of productive negotiations. That cooperative relationship was reinforced last summer during Álvaro Carreras’ transfer, when Manchester United chose not to stand in the left back’s way as he returned to his former club.

Early talks expected

The first contacts regarding a potential deal are expected in the coming days. If negotiations materialize, the transfer could become one of the biggest stories of the summer window.

For now, prying Tchouaméni away from Real Madrid appears to be little more than an ambitious dream for Manchester United. But in the transfer market, situations can change quickly.
