Manchester United - Liverpool: summary, score, goals, highlights | Premier League
Man United v Liverpool: live
The whistle sounds and smiles all round from the Liverpool bench.
A result that will certainly pile pressure on Ten Hag but confirms that Liverpool and Man City are the only two sides in the Premier League with 9 points from three wins from three.
Liverpool fans taunting the home fans who have stayed to the bitter end but it's been one way traffic following a disastrous first 45 minutes from the home side.
What a start this has been for Slot with the Dutch coach having some big, big shoes to fill.
Five minutes of time to be added on as many United fans have already made for the exit doors.
Nuñez almost bags a fourth as the Uruguayan striker fires inches wide.
Will Ten Hag survive this humilation at home ?
One of the poorest displays we've seen from Bruno Fernandes in a United shirt.
Eriksen comes on form Zirkzee (United change)
Robertson off and replaced by Kostas Tsimikas
United win a corner but this push all feels a little too late as the clock ticks down.
So close for United as Rashford clips the ball into the danger zone and Zirkzee manages to steer the ball wide.
Change for the visitors
Darwin and Bradley on
Trent and Jota making way
Great overhead effort from Lisando as the ball goes inches wide. Would have been a spectacular effort had it crept in.
A bit more fight from the home side now.
We're into the final 20 minutes and Liverpool remain very much in control despite the changes made by United's Dutch coach.
More United changes
De Ligt and Garnacho off
Maguire and Diallo on
Liverpool now the only Premier League side yet to concede a goal in the season to date (albeit just three games played)
And immediately Gakpo is in action as he heads just wide from a fine assist from Szoboszlai.
Change for the Reds
Off: Diaz with Gakpo on
Card now for De Ligt as he fouls Diaz.
Van Dijk was booked incidentally earlier ... first Liverpool to have his name taken this evening.
Liverpool fans seem to be enjoying themselves with cheers of 'Ole, Ole' as the visitors pass the ball around with the calmness a 0-3 scoreline affords.
Liverpool smell blood and Salah almost bags a fourth.
Just when it seemed that United were edging back into the contest, the Egyptian pops up to bag the third for the Reds.
Once again, poor from United in giving the ball away cheaply.
Ten minutes gone in the second half there is a good energy about the game now with United notching up the intensity levels.
Mazraoui is back on the field and seems ok to continue.
Decent effort from United a Zirkzee tests Alisson but the Brazilian was level to the test.
Liverpool are simply the hungrier side!
Noussair Mazraoui is having medical treatment after a collision on the back of the head following an unfortunate clash with Jota.
We're underway again in Manchester.
Toby Collyer is on for Casemiro.
Not a game the veteran Brazilian will want to remember.
Despite neither side really taking charge in the opening 20 minutes or so of the contest, Liverpool have been gifted countless balls from poor United passing and on both counts Casemiro has been to blame for the Liverpool goals.
Take nothing away from the expert finishing from Luis Diaz and sublime assists from Mo Salah and United need to dig deep in the second 45'.
Arne Slot aiming to become the first Liverpool manager to win his first meeting with United since Bob Paisley in November 1975.
The whistle sounds and Liverpool are very much in charge with a Luis Diaz double.
Arne Slot will be happy with his team's effort in the first half and plenty of work for his United counterpart with the home side far too sluggish and lacking any spark.
Mainoo carded for two quick fouls in the space of a minute.
Casemiro is not having a game that he'll want to recall in the future with the Brazilian very much out of sorts today.
We'll have five minutes of added time.
Final minute of the half and it's the Liverpool fans who are making all the noise now.
Casemiro gets bundled off the ball and a delightful pass from Salah is beautifully finsihed by the Colombian.
The Reds playing now with an added layer of confidence as Diaz makes it 0-2
Into the final five of the half as Martinez gets a card for a rash challenge on Dominik Szoboszlai
Liverpool player were queing up for the goal with both Diaz and Dominik Szoboszlai both totally unmarked.
VAR dod look at the passage of play but no issues and the goal stands.
Diaz nods home and once again it was a cheap giveway from United, this time Casemiro and the Reds are ahead.
We pass the half hour mark and despite having the better in terms of possession, it's Liverpool who look the brighter team.
Liverpool rob the ball once again as United are sloppy again in defence.
The bulk of the game is being played in the centre of the park with neither keeper over stretched this afternoon.
Zirkzee carded for United ..the Dutch striker is the first player to have his name taken by Anthony Taylor today.
That's a few times now where United have been sloppy in their transitions with mis-placed passes being easily intercepted by the Liverpool central players.
First quarter of an hour gone at Old Trafford and the home side yet to muster a shot on target.
MacAllister needs treatment but seems okay to carry on.
United ahead in terms of possession after 13 minutes in a characteristically tense start.
The goal has been chalked off as Trent was offside before the ball was played back.
As we were
Jota with the first half chance of the game but the Liverpool man screws the ball wide.
The traditional 'Clasico' of English football is underway at a packed Old Trafford.
United get the action underway.
Take me Home Country Roads belts out and we're all set.

Arne primed for Old Trafford clash
It's a grey and wet day in Manchester with a current temperature of 19C-66F with rain expected during the bulk of the 90 minutes of action.
The corresponding meeting last season ended in a 2-2 draw with United recording a 2-1 win over the Reds the previous season but no United fan will want to be reminded on the scoreline at Anfield where a rampant Reds put seven past the hapless Red Devils.
In the past 50 meetings, United have recorded 23 wins, played 11 draws and Liverpool have ran out winners on 16 occasions.
Two wins on the bounce for the Reds as United still smarting following Brighton loss.
Sunday's early results
Newcastle 2-1 Spurs
Chelsea 1-1 Crystal Palace
with the earlier games, Liverpool are now fifth in the table as United slip to 13th.
No Chiesa for Liverpool
As Arne Slot alluded in his pre-match press conference, new Italian signing Federico Chiesa will not play at Old Trafford and indeed has not even been selected in the matchday squad.
“If injuries might come up in the upcoming two days we might need him, but I don’t expect him to be in but I cannot guarantee this", stated the head coach.
Slot added that midfielder Curtis Jones is the only player currently ruled out due to injury for the Reds. He is yet to return to training as he continues his recovery from a groin injury.
Liverpool XI
These are the XI players selected by Arne Slot in his first trip to Old Trafford as Reds boss.
The visitors sporting their cream away kit today.
Team news is out
Firstly, let's bring you the team news and here's the Manchester United XI to face Liverpool today.
The season so far for both sides
Arne Slot’s team will be looking to make it nine points from three games and join Manchester City at the top of the table. Mohamed Salah will, as ever, be crucial to their chances of defeating The Red Devils, his favourite victims.
The Reds have opened the season with comfortable 2-0 victories over Ipswich Town and Brentford, with Salah scoring one goal in each game.
United, on the other hand, appear to have picked up from where they left off last season, when they finished eighth. Although they kicked off with a 1-0 home win over Fulham, they suffered a last-minute defeat to Brighton last weekend, which has added to the pressure manager Erik Ten Hag is under.
What is Mohamed Salah’s record against Manchester United?
To make matters worse for The Red Devils, they are now set to face Salah, who just loves playing against them.
Since moving to the Premier League, the Egyptian has played against United 15 times and scored 14 goals, 11 of which have come in the Premier League. He has also provided four assists, which means he averages 1.2 goal contributions per game against The Red Devils.
