Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag’s contract details: salary, length, severance pay…
After a heavy home defeat to Manchester City, the Red Devils were again convincingly beaten by Newcastle United in the EFL Cup.
After a promising first season in charge, things are not going well for Erik Ten Hag at Manchester United. The Red Devils currently sit eighth in the Premier League after five wins and five defeats in their opening 10 games, the last of which saw them convincingly beaten by derby rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford on Sunday. Three days later, the Dutchman’s team were handed another heavy loss on their own patch by Newcastle United in the EFL Cup.
Issues on and off the field for United
In addition to United’s on-field struggles, a number of players have been involved in serious off-the-field issues, while some have even lashed out in public at Ten Hag. Hardly a recipe for success.
Until recently, the former Ajax boss has always had the support of the club’s most important figures. The United board and senior players in the dressing room have backed his ideas, although that has now changed, according to a report in the DailyMail. Within the dressing room, there is a belief the 53-year-old’s strict approach is damaging team morale.
How long is Ten Hag’s United contract? How much does he earn?
If the Old Trafford hierarchy were of the mind to relieve Ten Hag of his duties, they would have to pay him £15 million (circa $18.2 million) in compensation, according to the terms of the contract he signed last year, Mirror claims.
The Dutchman joined United from Ajax on a three-year contract until 2025, worth £9 million (around $10.9 million) per season. He won three Eredivisie titles in four years in his homeland before switching to the Red Devils, with whom he finished third in the Premier League and won the EFL Cup in his first season.
